It is my pleasure to welcome you to the 135th MDA Annual Meeting and Convention held at the RBC Convention Centre Jan 25-26, 2019. Mark your calendars. This year get ready for something different. We are staying close to home. The focus of your convention this year is on "Manitoba Roots" and the convention committee has selected all Manitoba speakers which are guaranteed to fulfill your quest for intellectual advancement!

The MDA staff and planning committee have worked diligently to put together an outstanding 2 day program delivered by an energized collection of recognized Manitoba speakers. Our schedule of courses is filled with an impressive array of topics. Courses this year will include everything from infection control , to implants , paediatric dentistry, periodontics, patient communication, to a live demonstration and a whole lot more.

Our speakers include: Drs. Jonathon Archer, Anastasia Cholakis, Ernest Cholakis, Carla Cohn, Rodrigo Cunha, Colin Dawes, Hoda Hosseini, Patti Ling, Nita Mazurat, Bruce McFarlane, Igor Pesun, Ammy Rihal, Bob Schroth, Kurt Scherle, Trenna Reeve, Kevin Vint, Jose Viquez, Mr. Colin Reeve and Ms. Sylvia Sunstrum.

Dr. Debra Evaniuk, an obstetrician-gynecologist at the Mature Women’s Centre at Victoria Hospital and one of the Winnipeg Regional Health Authority’s leading experts will be speaking on Menopause and Dental health as well.
Dr. Gayle Halas and Prof .Laura McDonald will be our featured MDHA speakers.
Dr. Uche Odiatu ,internationally recognized health and wellness expert, is returning to his "Manitoba Roots" and will be speaking as well.
Peoples First will be providing information on Cannabis in the workplace.

Dr. Rodrigo Cunha will be performing a live endo demonstration in the exhibit hall on Saturday morning.

As always, we will be featuring our Oral Research presentations by the Dental College students. Let's not forget the CPR and CDSPI courses that are offered annually.

Our lecture format is new for this year. Lectures will be 90 min in length with repeating lectures allowing you more flexibility to hear your favourite speakers.
The convention is the easiest way to acquire needed CE credits at a convenient venue while reconnecting with friends. Go to mdaconvention.com to register.

Also new this year... MDA members who attend the tradeshow/exhibits at the Manitoba Dental Association Annual Convention will be awarded a maximum of 1 CE credit per day, up to a maximum of 2 CE credits for the MDA Convention. The maximum credit hours per day is still 6!

The exhibit hall continues to grow, showcasing the most up to date advances in our profession. Be sure to spend time in the trade show with your shopping list to take advantage of great show specials from the exhibitors that support our meeting. New at the exhibit hall this year…a live demo... you won’t want to miss it.

Our social opportunities this year include the Friday night cocktail party which begins right after lectures end. Come for a beverage and a bite!
The culmination of the weekend is on Saturday evening at the President’s Gala featuring the one and only Danny Kramer band. If you have never been to the Gala, this is the year to get your tickets. You will become a regular!
